Welcome to Vision Alliance

The Power of Generation Y

Vision Alliance believes in the power of Generation Y

p/s: Don't worry, we still believe in others too =)

Growing with technology and relying on it to perform theirs jobs better, this generation prefers to communicate through e-mail and text messages rather than face-to-face interaction. They prefer webinars and online technology more than traditional lecture-based presentations.Their attitude is “don’t waste my time making me come to your office.” They would rather send an e-mail so they can be drafting a brief, research a case and answering e-mail at the same time.

Communication via e-mail and text messages are favored over in-person interaction for Gen Y

Gen Y is also willing to trade high pay for fewer billable hours, flexible schedules and better work/life balance. While older generations may view this attitude as lacking in commitment, discipline and drive, Gen Y has a different vision of workplace expectations and prioritize family over work.
"Forget about high pay- give me flexible schedules and better work/life balance"-Gen Y

Pampered by parents who did not want to make the mistakes of the previous generation, Gen Y is confident, ambitious and achievement-oriented. They have high expectations of their employers, seek out new challenges and are not afraid to question authority. Gen Y wants meaningful work and a solid learning curve.

Gen Y seeks out new challenges, ambitious and wants a solid learning curve

Gen Y participates in team sports and team-based activities while they were children. They strongly value teamwork and seek the input and affirmation of others. Part of a no-men-should-be-left-behind generation, Gen Y is loyal, committed and wants to be included/involved.
Teamwork Makes The Dream Work!

Generation Y craves attention in the forms of feedback and guidance. They appreciate being kept in the loop and seek frequent praise and reassurance. Generation Y may benefit greatly from mentors who can help guide and develop their young careers. Immediate feedback and praise will help motivate and reassure this young generation. Frequent communication and reassurance will help keep members of Generation Y eager and involved.
Praise them- and they will love coming back to you!

Known as the Millennial Generation born in the 1980's and later, studies suggest that this generation may be the most aspirational generation ever. Surveys by the University of Michigan's Monitoring the Future study of high school seniors (conducted continuously since 1975) and the American Freshman survey, conducted by UCLA's Higher Education Research Institute of entering college students since 1966 showed the proportion of students who said being wealthy was very important to them increased from 45% for Baby Boomers (surveyed between 1967 and 1985) to 70% for Gen X and 75% for Millennials. The percentage who said it was important to keep up to date with political affairs fell, from 50% for Boomers to 39% for Gen X and 35% for Millennials.

Being wealthy is very important for Gen Y!

"Developing a meaningful philosophy of life" decreased the most, across generations, from 73% for Boomers to 45% for Millennials. "Becoming involved in programs to clean up the environment" dropped from 33% for Boomers to 21% for Millennials.

PDW #1: Common Answers to "Why Would Most People Have Fear in Public Speaking?"

Was your first public speaking experience a miserable one?

I still remember the first time when I spoke on stage to address a crowd of 200 for a business presentation 2 years ago. I could still remember the minutes before I was about to be invited on stage. The red stage. The crowd. The clock was showing 8.25 p.m. Just 5 minutes before the start of the function that night, I was really sweating- cold sweat I mean. My hands were cold. I was very nervous. After a few minutes of addressing the crowd by the emcee, then he invited, "Let's us give the warmest welcome to invite our speaker for today, Mr ...". I completed the product briefing presentation in 10 minutes (supposedly 30 minutes). Blank. Stunt. Totally nervous and did not recall what I said.

Having a miserable first public speaking experience is normal- at least you have tried rather than procrastinating!

This experience was indeed priceless. That's how I started my public speaking career as a speaker. 2 years after that, I was invited by my beloved university, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS to deliver a sharing session to the fellow freshmen during the Minggu Aluan Siswa. Due to my great success in academics, sports and extra-curricular activities, I was invited to inspire the young future talents of UTP. To my surprise, the same me who was shivering and struggling to even share about a simple business concept, 2 years after I became an icon in public speaking in my university and company. I became The Most Prominent Speaker for my company in year 2012, even at the age of only 23 years old. The same me who was caught blank on stage, 2 years after I delivered a power-packed inspiring speech in front of 700 students.

Addressing a crowd of 700 students during my sharing session- received tremendous feedbacks!
They wanted more of it!

Throughout my experience in public speaking, most of the people I met feel inferior and nervous giving a speech mainly due to:

1. Afraid of wrong choice of words
2. Afraid of humiliation from the crowd
3. Negative outcome in their mind- even before they step up on stage

Afraid of Wrong Choice of Words
The Choice of Words is just 7% contributing factor in communication, the rest includes body language, eye contact, tone and voice

My sincere advice would be- If you are invited to give a speech/sharing, speak from the bottom of your heart. Most of the time, speakers do not really deliver information, they deliver excitement and confidence to the crowd. A coach once told me this, "Speakers do not give information, they give excitement.". Excitement can be shown not only by words, but mainly by eye contact and body language (YES body language contributes the most in communication). Use different variety of tonality and pace while speaking to attract crowd attention. For example, as you speak the same pace as your breathing rate, people will tend to listen to you more than ever before!

Focus on presenting simple ideas rather than just vomiting out every single piece of information you know about a programme/concept. Make it as simple as you can, because the crowd has only a limited time frame to know about your programme/concept. Be as simple and attractive as you can. Prepare a script, but never bring them up on stage. Use visual aid such as powerpoint presentation to guide you through the flow, not to live with it throughout the entire presentation.

Afraid of Humiliation from The Crowd

Almost everyone is afraid of getting humiliated publicly- so do I!

Once you are given the opportunity to speak, definitely you have the credibility/honor.

Someone must have the belief in you. Someone must have trusted you. That is why you are on stage!

You are not just selected out of random decisions. I am sure when you are appointed, the person who appoints you, knows that you can deliver a great job up there on stage. My first rule on Healthy Self Image- No one can ever make you inferior unless you give the permission to them. Do not let anyone define who you are. Share with open heart and sincerity. When you hold the microphone, often you are the expert in your own expertise. And that is why someone has trusted you to do the job. Finish the job! Be confident. You are on the stage, you are the expert!

Do your preparations thoroughly. A source that I usually refer for public speaking- Assemble 100, discard 90. Prepare three times as much material as you can for your speech. Read more about the facts and figures about your industry. Gain some credibility before your speech by sharing your achievements with the Master of Ceremony so that he/she can introduce your background with the crowd.

Negative Outcome Prior to Presentation

Having a Negative Outcome Prior to Presentation is like having a time-bomb! Waiting to explode!

This is the main factor why people are afraid of public speaking. Even before they step up on stage, their mind is already thinking all the worst case scenarios:

1. My friends are going to laugh at me
2. My attire looks funny and not suitable
3. The crowd is going to fall asleep when I speak
4. The crowd is not going to respond to my questions
5. The crowd is not going to understand what I will say later

It's time to put a big FULL STOP to those matters. It's all in your mind. One of my biggest breakthrough in my presentation is when I change my outcome-

I want to have a standing ovation after my speech!

Even before I am on stage. Keep that movie playing in your mind- the applause (sound), the cheers, faces of smiling faces, happiness and joy seeing the crowd standing up, the music welcoming me on stage etc. Wow! It did really change your state, right? Practise it everytime you have the chance to address a crowd. Always remember:

The best presentation is the next presentation!

Training and Personal Development with CDI

Creative Dreams International has conducted Getting Started Orientation for new business partners who are very keen to learn the secrets to a successful career with CDI. Conducted by leaders in the Elite Club Member, all of the attendees had fun learning from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm. We had participants from Sarawak and Seremban too!

Dr Aylwin and Dr Niven in action!

Angel and Ksharp during the dream declaration session!

The 1st session of the day was conducted by Dr Andrew Chiew, Executive Club Member. He taught on the module of "Why CDI?". He shared on Cash Flow Quadrant by Robert Kiyosaki- EBSI. He used to conduct GSO's in Kelantan and today he was with us in Klang Valley to train the others. He loved to share how big the potential of CDI with this statement:

Dr Andrew on EBSI

If Sesame Streets were to send an e-mail to you and state:
Hi Sir, congratulations! You are now given the marketing rights to promote Sesame Streets in any merchandize for the entire Asia!

At that moment, even before knowing what to do and how to do, you know you are already a millionaire!

Not only Asia, CDI is now globally recognized for its business operation. Dr Andrew was literally jumping in excitement!

Dr Niven shared on the business operation in a detailed manner. From retail profit to royalty bonus for partners, he conducted a thorough explanation on the company's operation.

Dr Niven on detail marketing strategy

Dr Sanjay shared on Goal Settings- clarity of goals. He suggested us to write our list of goals as many as we can in a certain time frame. Some of them can hardly write up to 20 goals! Out of these goals, he suggested to segregate these goals into 1, 3, 5 and 10 years goals- then slowly breaking down to 1 year, 6 months, 3 months and 1 month goals! Simply awesome! All of the participants actually felt much clearer about their goals through this simple activity!

Dr Sanjay on his Goal Settings module

Dr Aylwin shared on the "Write a List of Names, Making Approach, Have a Presentation & Follow-through Meeting". Full of energy and animation, he did a superb job providing the crowd with useful skills. He highlighted not to pre-judge anybody as we might not know who is interested/not interested by just making assumption. His approaching skills was simply mesmerizing- done in very subtle and simple- Keeping it Short & Simple (KISS) policy.

Dr Aylwin on Approaching Techniques- very enjoyable!

Sharing some approaching skills- how to win friends and benefit them!

Mr Chan Wenzhen shared on "Form BBC Club & Personal Development". He started the session with a simple game- greet everyone in the room and ask for their favourite color. Jot down the name for those who loves white. In this activity, the more people you meet, the more names you have in the list for those who loves white. It is the same in this industry- you cannot change their "color", you only change your activity. Richard Brooke stated, the only thing we cannot change in this industry is their preparedness/timing- whether they are ready for an opportunity.

Another Achiever from Vision Allliance- now at the age of 20!

Let us give the warmest welcome to invite the BBC Achiever for July 2013- Mr Ksharp Lee!

Mr Ksharp at his best- more to come!

Vision Alliance celebrates the success of a young entrepreneur at the age of 20- making the breakthrough in his CDI career. Despite doing CDI part time, he has successfully achieved the first level in CDI Elite Club by qualifying into the Business Builders Club (RM 3,000 - 5,999 in a month). Originated from Labuan but currently based in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur, he is committed to inspire more youths out there. His passion and dream is to become a motivational/inspirational speaker. He loves inspiring and motivating people. He now qualifies to be one of the company Master of Ceremony speakers.

The CDI KL function yesterday (2nd Aug) kickstarts August 2013 with a blast. The speaker of the day Mr Chan Wenzhen did a fantastic job in presenting the business concept to the crowd. Around 100 opportunists turned up for a wonderful opportunity presented by CDI. We even had participants from Sarawak, Seremban and Melaka.

Snapshots of Mr Chan Wenzhen delivering at his best

One of the best quotes shared by Mr Chan Wenzhen

"The sky is not the limit, you are"

The speaker shared how he encountered this opportunity when he was still studying. He is a Chemical Engineering graduate from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), Tronoh, Perak. In fact he was the Gold Chancellor Award recipient from Tun Dr. Mahathir during his convocation in Oct 2012- for being the top and best graduate (well-rounded aspects including academic, sports and leadership skills). He was also awarded the Gold IEM (Institute of Engineers Malaysia) Award for being one of the best engineering students in the entire Malaysia. He is currently doing CDI full time and even a motivational/inspirational trainer for university and schools. He has a dream to be an international trainer- inspiring a change in millions of lives out there.

He first started the business about 2 years ago in his university days. Without any experience in business, he picked up his own skills through trainings and personal development sessions. He is very passionate about feeding his mind- through reading and personal development video on Youtube. Along the way, he made his money and helping others in CDI- providing opportunity to fellow students and youths to build extra income pipeline while studying. And he persisted. He was awarded The Most Prominent Speaker of CDI in year 2012. He has a quote

"Who said students cannot make money, let me prove it to you"

The function ended with a keynote address by Executive Club Member, Dr Andrew Chiew. He has a huge network  in the East Coast Region (Kelantan and Terengganu). And the best part, he is about to resign his profession as a doctor to do CDI full time- with a dream to share this opportunity to people across the world and to perform the "messenger" role for God. He is very passionate to do medical mission for God. What a noble dream he has.
